The Meadows Band - Springfield, Massachusetts

The Meadows Band - 1960's

Long before Punk Rock, Rap, and Disco came the forerunners of all of it.  Among the bands that were inspired by the Rock and Roll Movement of the 1960's was, The Meadows Band.  The band was founded by Bill Meadows, drummer, of Springfield, Massachusetts.  Prior to, The Meadows Band, Bill Meadows jr. played drums for another local band, The Missing Links.  Bill Meadows Paul Gauthier on base, and Jerry Lambert, lead singer, comprised the original, Missing Links.  Both bands practiced weekly in his parent's unfinished, cement and mortar basement.

The Meadows Band was cutting edge in that it heralded Woodstock, The Summer of Love, and was created around the time Jimi Hendrix arrived on the scene.

Bill Meadows was inspired by Gene Krupa, Buddy Rich, and Ginger Baker.  His interest in music and percussion began when he was 17 years old and within one year he began playing semi-professionally and continued to do so for the next 23 years.  His grandmother, Catherine Dec, bought him his first set of drums for Christmas, 1964.  Percussion resonated with him and was an appropriate outlet  for his strong passionate nature.

During this time, Bill fell in love with Anna Fotiathis.  They separated in 1966 but Bill found Anna again 5 years ago and they immediately picked up where they left off.  They have been together ever since.
